October:
1. Weekend outing to the Sitio (estate) – report by trainee Saskia
“Finally on the 4th of October, the day arrived. After two weeks of preparation, a spontaneous idea became reality. On Saturday morning, we drove to Matthias’ estate for the weekend with two buses packed with luggage, food and 35 children. Lots of action and fun were guaranteed! The children enjoyed themselves and thanks to a swimming pool, 35° C and a cloudless sky were bearable, in fact the children hardly got out of the water. But now and then there was a little volleyball or football match. And, occasionally there was work to do as the weekend was part of my project ‘Vida Colorida’ which I transformed with the ‘Afternoon Children’. The weekend was a total success. We drove back to Moro do Papagaio on Sunday evening, tired and exhausted after 2 long days and a sleepless night. Only this week did we look at the photos together and this event will surely stay in our all minds.” Saskia
2. Trainee Tom settled well in at GAC
Our new trainee Tom had a good start and became familiar with the daily activities of the GAC. He took over the German and English tuition. Of course, he also came along to the estate.
3. Children’s day week at GAC
This year, we also made the children happy by organizing the children’s week at GAC. Thanks to a generous donation from 2 of our sponsors, the ‘Day of the children’ on the 10th of October became a whole week full of surprises and joy.
Here’s the program: Monday: Cinema with popcorn and juice for all groups Tuesday: Volleyball match and ice-cream for all afterwards Wednesday: Joint breakfast with biscuits, fruit and cake Thursday: Big baking day and ice-cream once more Friday: Small group: Trip to the zoo Big group: Games, bouncing castle, trampoline For all: Surprise bag with toys and sweets and a big cake

4. Christmas presents for sponsored children
Soon again, Christmas is approaching and the shops started their sale in the run-up to the festive season.
Also GAC will join in the festivities and there will be a little Christmas party where we will hand out presents from the sponsors should they wish so.
We’d like to ask sponsors, who wish to send a Christmas present, to let us know by the 30th of November at the latest, so that there will be enough time to do all the shopping. Furthermore, we would like to ask not to exceed 20 Euros as not all children at GAC have sponsors and all eyes should light up at the Christmas party and no child should be sad because another one did get more.
